How Our Wood Phone Cases Are Made
Every wood phone case we make begins with real cherrywood and an original design prepared for laser engraving. At Engraver’s Dungeon, the process goes far beyond printing an image onto a case: each piece is engraved, individually finished by hand, and—depending on the design—painted, stained or detailed with metallic accents in our workshop.Over more than a decade of working with wood and laser engraving, we have refined the process to preserve fine artwork while keeping the natural grain and character of the wood visible. The result is a phone case where the material and the artwork become part of the same piece.

From Artwork to Real Cherrywood

Every design begins as digital artwork that is adjusted specifically for engraving on wood. Fine lines, contrast and small details often need to be adapted so they remain clear after the laser interacts with the natural grain of the cherrywood. Once the artwork is prepared, it is positioned and scaled for the specific phone-case model before engraving begins.
Precision Laser Engraving
The prepared artwork is then engraved directly into the cherrywood using a precision laser. The laser removes and darkens the surface of the wood to create the design, allowing fine lines, textures and shading to become part of the material rather than simply sitting on top of it. Because natural wood varies in grain and tone, each finished engraving develops slightly different character.
Hand Finishing & Painting

After engraving, each case is inspected and finished by hand. Depending on the design, we may add paint, stain, metallic accents or darkened details to increase contrast and bring out specific areas of the artwork. These finishes are applied individually, which means small variations are part of the handmade character of each case rather than defects.
Final Assembly & Quality Check
Once the engraving and finishing work is complete, the wooden panel is checked for alignment, surface quality and detail before the case is prepared for shipping. We make sure the artwork is clean, the finish is consistent and the case matches the selected phone model before it leaves the workshop.
Because real cherrywood is a natural material, grain, color and texture will vary slightly from one piece to another. Those differences are part of what makes each case unique.
